Pre-Fab Homes

Many of the families in Santa Rosita live in thatched or cardboard dwellings, sleeping on the floor with no running water or electricity. Replacing a temporary dwelling with a pre-fabricated home allows us to address a family’s immediate, practical need and bring hope. Pre-fabricated homes are durable, safe, and cost-effective structures that can be built quickly on-site with the help of a volunteer team.

A single family, pre-fabricated home costs $900.

Community Transformation

Replacing thatched or cardboard dwellings isn't about a quick fix. It's about recognizing the need, showing love, and building relationships over years as we work with a community to bring hope and a better future. Deeply rooted problems like poverty, lack of education, and hopelessness take time and persistent effort to address, which is why we're committed to meet needs on every level...physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.

Step-by-Step Construction

STEP #1 - materials

Materials have to be passed by hand along a human chain from the bottom of the mountain to the construction site. Pre-fab walls, roof panels, sand, bags of cement…everything has to pass through hundreds of hands as it goes up the mountain.

STEP #2 - Foundation

Dump trucks are scheduled the day of construction to bring loads of sand for the sub-floor. Sand is bagged and passed by hand up the mountain where it is spread to prepare a level surface for a simple concrete floor.

STeP #3 - Walls

Pre-fab wall panels are carried overhead up the mountain to the construction site where a professional building manager helps the volunteer team position and secure each panel.

STEP #4 - metal roof

Finally, pre-cut roof panels are secured over the entire frame of the house, providing durable protection against sun and inclement weather for years to come.

Dedication Day Faces

Once the building process is completed, our team gathers with the happy family at the home's entrace for a big celebration. After lots of hugs and tears and prayers, the family gets to enter their new home while we all cheer!
